Newcastle upon Tyne – Nice Walk

This is a lovely walk I discovered in Newcastle
Start from the Laing Art Gallery and the blue carpet sculpture on the area outside the gallery. Head right on to Bridge Street towards Northumberland Street.
At Northumberland Street turn right and head towards the top of the street. At the Haymarket Metro turn left and go around on to Percy Street. Head down the street passing Marks and Spencer’s on the left. Carry on down the street for a while until you come to St Andrews’s church on the right hand side of the road turn right and then left in to Stowell Street. This is Chinatown with lots of Restaurants. Halfway down on the left is an arch which leads to a grassed area called Blackfriars the site of a former 13th century monastery here you will find people having their picnics.
After your visit to Blackfriars turn back into Stowell Street and follow your footsteps back to St Andrews turn right into Newgate Street and continue to walk down for a couple of hundred yards you will eventually come to St Nicholas Cathedral on the left.

After your visit turn into turn right into Mosley Street and then left into Grey Street head up the street and this will take you to Greys Monument and back into the centre of Newcastle approx. 2 miles
